Ensemble in The Round is a group of musicians who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of their lives, and who desire to make Him known through the gift of music.

The Ensemble was founded, and is led, by violinist Annette Armitage, with the aim of encouraging Christian musicians in Cambridge and inspiring audiences to consider God through words and music. Other members of the Ensemble include Tenor soloist Nicholas Bewes, string and woodwind players and choral singers, from St Andrew the Great, and other churches in Cambridge.

The Round Church provides the Ensemble with a unique and intimate setting in which to perform a mainly Baroque repertoire. The architecture of the Round prevents the full ensemble from being seen by the audience, thus turning the focus away from the musicians and prompting listeners to consider the Creator God, through whose gift the music is being performed.

“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord; I sing for joy at the work of your hands.” Psalm 92 verses 1-4.

You are warmly invited to the next ensemble in the Round concert on Thursday 5th April, at 8pm.
