Year out opportunity
2010-2011

September/OCTOBER 2010 - July/AUGUST 2011

INTERNSHIP

Based at the Round Church on Bridge Street, Christian Heritage is a small but growing charity committed to showing that Christianity is true and relevant to every part of life, every area of academic study, every part of society - 'revealing the Lordship of Christ to our dying culture'*.

We are looking for flexible, interested interns in whom we can invest over the next year either with a part-time placement (unpaid) or full-time (with a small amount of subsistence funding from Christian Heritage). The role would be designed around you, but would include the following:

  • Thinking through how to explain your faith through study, mentoring and talking with the wide range of visitors to the Round Church;
  • Initiating contact with non Christian students and working through how to communicate that Christianity is true;
  • Attending at least one of the summer courses, the Saturday School of Theology, and spending a period studying at L'Abri or attending TEAM (Training for East Anglia Ministry);
  • Attending a local church with some involvement;
  • Helping with practical jobs and administrative tasks at the Round Church.

Also:
  • Supporting guides doing Guided Walks possibly training to undertake guided walks (eg with international student groups);

·         Taking time to reflect on the Christian response to your own area of academic study and undertaking further guided reading;

  • Considering or preparing for your next step (which might be business, academia, tourism, ministry, teaching… anything!)

*“The twenty first century church has been marginalised in the public square of politics, the media and even the academy by a resurgent secularism. At this critical moment in time, British Evangelicalism needs the resources and programmes coming out of Christian Heritage. I thoroughly recommend Christian Heritage to all serious minded believers who are keen to take the fight to secularism and reveal the Lordship of Christ to our dying culture.”
